Her signature piece is an amazing double veil dance, in which she spins in the midst of a colorful cloud of floating silk. Also a Celtic harpist, Lisanna dances with an amazing musicality, and often adds sparkle to her performance with a dazzling display of finger cymbals. She's also one of the few American belly dancers who excels at playing the Turkish spoons, traditional folkloric instruments. When she teams up with Zorya for the Gypsy Tambourine Dance, you'd be surprised how many in the crowd want to join the caravan! Lisanna has been dancing since she was a toddler, and spent 13 years studying classical ballet, tap and modern jazz. She discovered Middle Eastern dancing while in college, and found it is the best medium "I feel truly alive on the dance floor, and those who know me also know that they are seeing a window to the inner me when they watch me dance," Lisanna said. Lisanna teaches in the Allentown, Pa., area, and is available to offer special workshops on both double veil and zils. When she's not shimmying, Lisanna is a computer consultant and trainer. She is also a belly dancer's Most Dangerous Friend; as the owner of Salome's Tent, she offers a wide selection of scrumptious belly dancing costuming and accouterments for sale. |
