Surayyah

Surayyah, which means “free of worry and happy,” began belly dancing in January 2006 and has become an enthusiastic performer and event organizer. She has graced stages at festivals and events across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

For as long as she can remember, belly dance has captivated Surayyah, who first glimpsed the dance on television. “The energetic and hypnotic moves and music drew me in,” Surayyah says.

She enjoys the variety of music and flowing moves of belly dancing. Also, she loves the freedom to express the music. “Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I put in my favorite music and dance my cares away,” Surayyah says.

Beyond loving the art of belly dancing, Surayyah has taken on the additional duties of a show producer in her quest to create more performance opportunities for all dancers.

Surayyah’s debut show sold out show in March 2007 with a standing-room only crowd, and her November 2007 show was featured on the Channel 69 Lehigh Valley local news.

Surayyah’s great passion for the dance has also inspired her to create an informative website, www.surayyah.com, which is devoted to promoting the dance through links to dance resources, teachers and events in the Lehigh Valley area.
