Our DancersAmala Gameela is a stunningly beautiful dancer who specializes in folkloric Middle Eastern dance. Amala’s flashing black eyes and 1,000-watt smile light up the stage, and her exciting performances range from delicate and flirty to fast-paced and energetic. In her breath-taking signature piece, Amala balances a lit candelabra on her head, but is equally comfortable spinning a golden cane. She regularly performs throughout the tri-state area at festivals, restaurants, weddings, and private parties and also teaches in the Bethlehem, Pa. area. Cassandra has been dancing since childhood, including belly dance, ballet, Broadway and rhythm tap, modern, jazz and theatrical. Her dancing style has been described as “elegant, graceful and sophisticated.” Larah has been dancing on and off for eight years, and was most recently seen gracing the stage of Tasha’s “Elements” show. Linda is not only an enthusiastic member of Embers & Emeralds, she is the official troupe artist! When she was lured into belly dancing four years ago, she found a new subject matter for her art: dancers in action! Linda created the troupe's logo and also has done portraits of local belly dancers as well as other dance-related graphic designs. Some of her art can be seen on the troupe's Cafepress website link. Lisanna has been dancing all of her life, but it's belly dancing that's brought her tremendous accolades. Whether performing locally, or in California, Florida or Maryland, Lisanna captivates audiences with her signature piece, a fast-spinning double veil routine. Lisanna demonstrates not just speed and agility, but tremendous grace in executing this very difficult dance. She is also a master of zils, or finger cymbals, and one of the few dancers in the United States who excels playing Turkish spoons, traditional folkloric instruments. Lisanna teaches in the Allentown, PA. area. Rebekah has been dancing less than a year, but has enjoyed every minute of it! She’s the rare dancer gifted with a natural understanding of the curving movements of belly dance. Rebekah said she was drawn to the mystique of belly dancing. “It was always something I’d admired from afar, until I was presented with the chance to pursue it,” she says. Sahla is a high-energy dancer who's no stranger to the spotlight--or wearing sequins. As a competitive figure skater, Sahla has been fearlessly performing in front of crowds since she was a little girl. She's been belly dancing for less than a year, and finds dancing on solid ground is even more fun than dancing on ice. A devoted student of Tasha's, Sahla dances with as much pose and grace as she's shown on the ice. Suzanne is a dynamic dancer who moves audiences to spontaneously erupt in applause during her signature piece, an elegant dance in which she balances a steel, crescent-shaped sword on her head. Suzanne began her belly dance studies in the earthy American tribal style with Gypsy Caravan in Oregon, but has recently been drawn to the glitz and glamour of American cabaret style. She has graced numerous stages throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia. She also teaches in the Easton, Pa. area. Zorya’s performances are graceful expressions of her often contagious, and always uncontainable, joy. Standing tall at 5’10,” with blonde hair long enough to sit on—if you could catch her sitting, that is—Zorya is a memorable dancer best known for her ethereal silk veil work and her mesmerizing wing dance. She also plays various flutes at shows featuring live music. She regularly performs in the United States as well in Jamaica. |
